Move beyond surface-level couples therapy

Repeating arguments that go nowhere

Not feeling heard and constant miscommunication

You feel like you're just roommates.

I focus on specialized, evidence-based relationship work for couples who feel stuck in patterns that don’t seem to change, including:

Even relationships that look “high functioning” from the outside can struggle behind closed doors. As a relationship specialist offering couples therapy in Newark, Ohio, I work with partners who want more than surface-level conversations and want meaningful, lasting change.

My client is your relationship. I work for your relationship, not against either of you. When your relationship grows stronger, you both do.

My approach to couples therapy is structured and grounded in research-supported methods, including the Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). I focus on identifying the patterns that drive disconnection and use a thoughtful, evidence-based assessment to understand what keeps your relationship stuck and how to move it forward.

What Does the process look like?

The
Assessment Phase

We start with a 90-minute deep dive into your relationship.  I want to understand your history and your difficulties.

Between sessions you and your partner take a comprehensive relationship assessment from the Gottman Institute.

We then have two individual sessions (one hour with each of you). I want to understand YOU as an individual because you are part of the relationship.

In the third session, we review your personalized couple’s assessment, brainstorm goals, and I provide my thoughts on what I am seeing.

the treatment phase

My goal is to work myself out of a job.
I offer 90-minutes with couples and partnerships to get you healing faster.

We get to work. We will work to stop your patterns and give you tools to change.

I use the two most widely researched and successful approaches to couples therapy, The Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

my approach: Gottman therapy is a toolbox for couples. It's got communication tools, like:

Assessments (Relationship Checkup & Intake
Skills (Communication, Conflict...)
Homework (If You Want It)

  • Learn to truly listen
  • Express needs and feelings openly,
  • Avoid toxic habits like criticism or defensiveness.
  • Learning to embrace differences, find common ground, and work out solutions that suit both partners.

Plus, Gottman's research is world renown, which is why I use his assessment process with every couple I work with.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do I need to go to couples therapy?

It varies from couple to couple; some opt for weekly sessions, while those preferring 90-minute sessions often schedule bi-weekly. At the beginning of couples therapy, we always start with sessions spaced no more than 14 days apart.

How long does couples therapy last?

My goal? To work myself out of a job! I'm here to dive as deep as you are into what's brought you here. Depending on what we're tackling, therapy usually lasts about 5 to 10 months on average.

How much does couple's therapy cost and do you take insurance?

My standard fee is $200 per 60-minute session. The initial 90-minute intake session is $360, which includes a comprehensive couples assessment. Ongoing 90-minute sessions are $300.

A limited number of reduced-rate sessions at $150 may be available based on availability.

I am a private-pay provider and do not bill insurance. I can provide a superbill upon request for potential reimbursement; however, reimbursement is not guaranteed.
